Great article, great speech by Vance, the content of which is decades overdue. God provide that it is a seed that finds root and not one which falls by the wayside to be eaten by Beltway birds or on soil with no depth to be choked by weeds. Decades of waiting have left me not optimistic, but hopeful.

History, if there is a history, will look back on these last three decades in the west as a period of derangement born of hubris and incomprehensible political malfeasance. How else could a sane historian understand the generation succeeding the generation that concluded the Cold War without WW III bringing us to the very cusp of WW III with the use of nuclear weapons now more in prospect than at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis...with nobody taking much notice.

With the decades marked by calamitous military interventions, to just be awakening now to how close we have come to the precipice, to have such a tenous grasp of reality, to have political leaders of such uncertain quality, is beyond incomprehensible. It should be frightening. It manifestly isn't either in the right places or with enough people.

Wonderful to read, but only a start and could be abandoned in the next administration.

Still, let's live in hope, but as chairman, CEO and only member of the neutralistassociationofthe.us, one must note, US foreign policy has been episodic with interventionism alternating with periods of restraint.

Without a neutralist ethos, we shall go back to it post-Vance.
