Fine article! My general sense is that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were to bring a government program to completion. No less a general than Dwight Eisenhower thought that the Japanese were beaten and that it was unnecessary in bringing about the ending of the war. Pre end of the war combatant casualty estimates to be expected in the event of a homeland invasion does not morally justify incinerating 200,000 non combatant lives...even if it has become the favorite post war argument in defense of the indefensible. If we had not won the war, Truman would have been among those who were hung. And yes, there is something seriously deficient in an Administration that gives voice to a Mark Levin...or a Bibi Netanyahu.
